Final Cleaning Begins as Construction Comes to an End

Here is a view of the service counter with the newly added CBB and SSB. The crews still have their tools, materials, and plans laying around as they try to finish the last of the work. Everyone is doing the final work needed before inspections tomorrow. The electrical inspection should have been today, but the inspector didn't make it out. He will be here tomorrow. The health inspector will also come out tomorrow. The Fire Inspector has also been scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Finally, the final building inspection should be the final inspection of the day.

Dining Room Gets Floor Tile

How do you know that you walked onto a Parkway Construction job site? You see TEAM WORK in action. The crews on this job are not compromising quality. They have been able to work together and progress ahead of schedule. Starting Saturday the pace is going to really pick up. Then Sunday the core drilling begins. Core drilling is exciting because it's an indication that you are days from seeing the new tables, booths, chairs, equipment. We are very appreciative of the hard work these crews have put into this project. This morning it seemed like we hit the road running the minute our feet touched the ground. The pace didn't let up until about 7 this evening. The concrete was poured back where it was sawcut. Soffit frame work was completed & FRP application continued. Tile crew continued with floor tile at front counter area and dining room. The electricians pulled wire and worked on the new C-panel. We had a big regrouping meeting this evening and were able to streamline our final schedule. We have another scheduled milestone to meet on Tuesday. Then the final milestone will be turnover. We're almost there.

Zamoras Visit Job Site

It's always a great day when the owners stop by to check the progress. It's a good way for them to see the progress and make timely changes before work is complete. Overall, they seemed pleased with the progress. Inspections: The fire marshal was unable to come keep the scheduled appointment for today. We'll look to see someone from that office tomorrow. The plumbing inspector has also postponed the plumbing inspection for tomorrow. The electrician is making arrangements to get his electrical work inspected tomorrow as well. The building inspector came out and did a stucco lath inspection. We passed. After the plumbing & electrical inspections are completed, the building inspector will be able to come out to do the framing inspection. Progress: Today was a good day. Wyatt, Project Manager, was on site in the morning before having to return back to the office. The crews worked aggressively. The painters painted in the playplace and out in the dining area. The plumbers and electricians continued with their rough in work and preparing for their prospective inspections. The infill work will be able to start in the morning. The tiling crew is scheduled to arrive late this evening. They will begin floor tile in the morning. Photo: Please notice the front service counter. The original front counter was torn out on Sunday night. Today it is already framed and ready for finishes.

Demo Night a Success

The collage shows the progress of work from last night and today. The largest amount of sawcutting was done last night. The balance of it was finished early this morning. This allowed the plumbers time to run new lines for the floor sinks & water lines. The framers were able to start framing new walls. Last night the demo crew was able to remove wall covering in the dining area. Outside the stucco crew started preparing the areas for the EIFS infill. The nail inspection is scheduled for tomorrow. Wyatt Moore, Project Manager, was able to meet with the owners today. He and Woody finalized any schedule changes. The fire marshal is scheduled to come out tomorrow for a view of the building. Crews have been very careful to stay on schedule so that we can meet our goal for the owner's to open the service counter to the public again in approximately twelve days. By the way, the weather today was wonderful. Sun was shining all day.

DEMOLITION DAY ARRIVES

The collage above gives a view of the various areas that are being demo'd before the transformation. Michelle Beals, the owner's assistant, removed the registers at the front counter & disconnected all POS lines. The crews started by placing a plastic wall to prevent the construction dust from traveling into the kitchen area. Then the demolition started. This started with the removal of the front counter. The floor tile was also removed. The crew had a couple of areas to sawcut to allow electricians and plumbers to make some changes. The electrician was onsite to disconnect electrical lines in the walls and at the front counter. Coca-Cola sent a subcontractor to disconnect two beverage machines. The Project Manager, Wyatt Moore, flew in from corporate office to stay with the night crews. This allowed Woody to leave the project about 9 so he can return tomorrow morning. The furniture from the dining room was moved into the playplace area. The beverage machine in the dining area was removed and will later be replaced with a newer unit. While this work is being done, McDonald's will continue to maintain the drive thru service open.

That Was Then, This Is Now

So we started 12 days ago. We've had a holiday in between then and now. On the exterior the difference is already very visible. The photo shows the before and after of the window areas of the playplace. The EIFS infill preparation was to begin yesterday, but due to the snow it has been rescheduled for Monday.
Inside, the framers continued with the tape & bedding work in the playplace. They stayed on it steady and finished.
Other than that it was just a final chance to be sure all is set for Sunday nights demolition of the service counter area.

Weekend Approaching Quickly As Is the SNOW!

This is in the play place. Some tape & bedding has already started. Sheetrock & FRP hanging is wrapping up. The glass crew finished installing glass & took the left over glass to the owner's warehouse for storage. The CID Inspector came out and PASSED the framing & insulation in playplace. Woody went and picked up materials that will be needed to seal of the work area from the rest of the building on Sunday evening. The crews have done an excellent job staying with the schedule. The push is to be done in the playplace by Saturday, so we can start work on the CBB.

Exterior Work Continues

Today was extremely busy. This location is currently open while we begin the remodel project. The store is immaculate. We also went to visit another location owned by the same owner and found it also to be very clean. The location we visit is also in the progress of getting some upgrades. Wyatt Moore flew in for the day. He and Woody met with the electrician, plumber, demo man, and with the owner. We also talked to a couple of companies about the refrigeration work. The glass crew & framing crew continued on to the north wall today. Again removed glass, framing the designated portions, and putting glass back.

Glass Removal & Framing Begins today

Monday came and went too fast. The glass crew and framing crew arrived to start the work on the exterior of the play place. The glass is to be removed. Then the top and outside ends will beframed. This will be filled in with EIFS at the end of the week. On this first side, the east side the decision was made to remove all the glass to avoid the glass breaking while the frame goes in on the top row.
The photos show the progression of this work.
Tomorrow the owner and Project Manager will be meeting on site to finalize scheduling.
The crews made good progress today.

Good Friday. Good ending for our week.

It's been a busy week. Finally we can take time to enjoy the city we are visiting. Wyatt sent photos of the job from Monday & Tuesday. I used his demo photo of the play place restroom to compare to our photo yesterday of the same room. Woody went with Buck to unload all scaffolding for the framer. Mrs Zamora met with Woody. She gave him some painting details.

Parkway Sends in the Big Guns

What a team! It's Wednesday and we found the McDonald's without any problems. Wyatt was already on site waiting on us. Michael arrived a while later. We were able to walk the job and get Wyatt's notes on the work that took place Monday & Tuesday. The turn over from Wyatt to Woody was rather smooth. Our goal is to give our customer a quality finished product with a focus on quality. The challenge will be to finish in the time frame already determined. The tile crews worked in the playplace. Laborers worked on emptying the storage container so that it could be moved on site.

We've Arrived In Santa Fe, NM

Monday, April 6, 2009
Goodbye, Texas. Hello....
Well, today we started by packing up the RV. Woody went to the Lewisville to the corporate office to pick up the packet and plans for the new project. We will begin on Wednesday on a remodeling of a McDonald's in Santa Fe, NM. We are so excited about our new assignment. We will use the time on the road to get familiar with the plans and job schedule. Meanwhile, we will be working for a different project manager, Wyatt Moore. Michael Sawyers, our Project Manager, will also be involved. We left Texas Motor Speedway and started on our way when I took this picture. Already I see West Texas around the corner, but no time to stop and see the family. The job awaits us.

Pat Green Concert @ Texas Motor Speedway

It's Friday night and we got tickets to the Pat Green Concert. We have great seats, great view, and great music. We are excited, but wore out from setting up all day. We tried to work up energy to get in the spirit of the concert, but half way thru we were just sitting and listening! LOL!
This is our first time to see Pat Green in concert. The crowd went wild! He's got some good music.
Jack, Michael, Yvonne and the kids joined us at the camp after the concert. We sat under the tent and finally had a chance to catch up with Michael. It gaves us an opportunity to brag about how great the BURGER KING job went.
Michael Sawyers is our usual Project Manager. However, we had the opportunity to work for Cliff Hudson when we did the Burger King.
Jack is also a Project Manager at Parkway.

Aaron's Fandango @ Texas Motor Speedway

This is our second year to go to Aaron's Fandango. Fans come out and see surprise guest drivers. Kyle Petty has been the MC both years. This year the guests were: Tony STEWART, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton and that CARL EDWARDS HATER: K HARVICK (YUCK)! Tony was great. They sit around in recliners on a stage and just tell stories. Kyle ends it with a great bar song. It was so great to get a close up of KYLE PETTY. Back at the camp we set up tents and flags and got ready for all our guests to come out Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
Well, Tony got to telling a stories that revolved around WAFFLE HOUSE food. So after the program we headed out to Waffle House.
Finally, we went out to Walmart to get drinks, food, and other goodies to hold us over the rest of the weekend.
