The carpenters also came out and finished final touches on ceiling tiles. The next few days will be filled with posting occupancy signs, cleaning up, and finish installing some emergency lights and signs. It has definitely been a great experience working in the City of Paris. The community was very welcoming to us during our stay here. We can not say enough about the quality of work provided by all our subcontractors and service providers. Opening day is still scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2009. We want to especially thank KOSTEL, INC for the opportunity to do this project for them.

A Glimpse of the Dining Areas @ Burger King

By viewing the collage on the right, the new look of the Burger dining areas are more visible. The Burger King crews continue to work on cleaning the building. Some of the decor items that personalize this Burger King have not been removed. One wall had a pre-existing old time Burger King which has been left in place. The car display stand with cars also remains in the building. And the car coming through the wall has also been left. The new colors, new booths, Marlite paneling, new ceiling tiles really made a big difference. Work progressed on schedule today except for exterior work which is still on hold while it continues to rain here. It has been raining since Tuesday evening. Although the rain was much needed in this area, it has caused a bit of delay for our project. Woody is still expecting to meet the turn over date. Crews will work tomorrow if the rain stops tonight. Otherwise, it will have to wait until next week.

Peek of Burger King's Restrooms

It won't be much longer before the citizen's of Paris can come in or drive thru to enjoy a flame broiled WHOPPER. Personally, Woody and I can't wait. We hope to be two of the first customers. Anyone that drives past to and from here and there throughout the past couple of months, has probably noticed all the visible changes on the outside of the building. The photos we've posted of before and after have been focused mainly on the exterior. Let me assure you that the inside is also getting a new look. A big part of the interior work took place in the kitchen and other back areas. The employees will be sure to enjoy their brighter, newer work environmnet. But as regular customers return to Burger King they will see changes throughout the lobby and playground area.

A Visit From our Corporate Office

Cliff Hudson, Project Manager, came down to check the progress of the job site today. He met there with John Kostel. Overall, our Project Manger was pleased with the progress of the work. As is common of all Parkway PMs, his focus and concern were quality. It isn't enough at Parkway to get the job done. They foster in their employees the determination to focus on meeting their schedules and providing the customer with a QUALITY building. As we begin the last couple of weeks of this project, it becomes important to do quality checks more frequently and thoroughly. The electricians worked on kitchen equipment today. The plumbers started up the water heater. Ceiling tiling was completed, as well as painting in the lobby. The HVAC mechanics started up the AC & heat. They also installed stainless steel. The much needed rain has finally arrived. That is of no help to our project, but we know the people out in this part of Texas really needed it. The stone work scheduled to be finished today will have to wait a few days.

Drive Thru Concrete Complete @ Burger King

Today the rest of the drive thru lane was poured. The photos above show the crew out spreading it. The middle photo is in the drive thru lane as it turns out into the third photo. The third photo is where cars exit the drive thru lane. Below is a collage of photos showing the red light band lit at 6am today. The building is looking great. The red light added the extra lighting to bring out the street front end of the building. Paris customers are continuing to come by to see if the restaurant is open.

Pulling It Together @ Burger King, Paris, TX

Tonight will be the first night that the red light band is lit on the Burger King since it's installation. The electricians worked on connecting those lights as well as some hoods. Interior crew did some additional FRP work, while carpenters installed dining booths. The ansul system was connected and fire wrapping completed. The painters were mudding and painting inside. Outside the next section of the drive thru lane was poured. This is the section under the drive thru canopy. J Kostel is already setting up POS. The photo additionally show the progress of the office, the soda chase, backflow for floor drains, and some quality control on ceiling grid.

Point of Reference

I am logging this photo here as a point of reference. I will use it later to show the progression of the lighting after all remodeling is complete. This photo is the same as the one posted just below, except this one has mark up notes. It also shows the lighting on the evening before remodeling project started.

Night View of Burger King

This is a compilation of some photos we took on Friday evening. It's not a great photo. However, it does show the exterior lighting at Burger King. The red light band has not yet been lit. The building on the front corner end is much darker because the pole lights are not on yet. This does however give the viewer a hint of the remodeled Burger King new look.
