Progress of Exterior Work @ Burger King

The subcontractor doing the exterior finishing work, had a crew on site over the weekend. They were able to make visible progress. Some of the color has already been added. These photos show various stages of this work as it's in progress.

Hopefully, the rain forcasted for the coming week won't linger and allow work to continue on the exterior of the building.

Demo Work Continues

The demo of the kitchen floor, wall, and ceiling tiles continued. The EIFS work continued outside on the drive thru side. The ceiling tiles were delivered and stored. Burger King reps continued to work on the removal of the pos system. The mechanical techs removed the old a/c unit and fans. The sanitation company had to come switch out the 40 yard container again. This is the second time since the demo work started. Overall, the day went well and progress is on schedule. The EIFS work will continue over the weekend. As of now the plans are laid out for the coming week, but the forcast is still calling for rain through the middle of next week. We will have to see how it goes.

Burger King: Kitchen DEMO Started Today

Look at these photos that show the removal wall, floor, ceiling tiles. Kitchen equipment was moved outside for a thorough cleaning before being stored. Earlier I reported that the exterior would be done in stucco. However, it is clear from the photo that it will actually be EIFS. Woody really enjoyed having so many crews on site today: plumbers, mechanical technicians, electricians, and the demo and framing crew. They were also joined by Mr J Kostel who spent the day having the POS removed. The crews are working proactively knowing that the beginning of next week's rain could cause delays. We'll just have to wait and see. The work is really coming along.

Stucco Application Begins Today at Burger King

The home of the Whopper in Paris, TX is getting a new look. The project is in it's third week. Today the stucco crew started their work and made good progress. It's the only crew that needed to work today. Woody scheduled several crews for tomorrow when the interior work begins. Today is the final day that Whoppers are being served here. The restaurant will open when the remodeling is completed.

The work is progressing at a steady rate. The crews have been very cooperative, professional, and agressive in their work. Although the weather has turned cold again, it's not rained again, so we've made good progress. This afternoon the stucco crew showed up and started set up scaffolding and staging so they can begin work tomorrow. The new broiler was also delivered today. And these photos show the progress of the roofing crew. They worked on the play area roof and some of the main entrance roof area.

Roofing Crew Started Work Today

With the demo crew just about finished with the framing, the roofing crew was able to begin roofing. The demo crew also removed the cedar band around the building.

The demo and frame work on the play area roof was completed today. The only section left now is a small corner on the rear of the building on the drive thru side.

Crews Resume Work @ Burger King

Finally, we were able to return to work today. The demo, framing, and coverup of the playplace was started. The crews got about half of it done. The rest will be done tomorrow. All subcontractors were onsite today for a preconstruction meeting with Cliff and Woody. Also, on site today was John Kostel, owner. This pic shows the demo work, followed by framing, and finally the cover up. Best of all, you can see we had clear blue skies.

Frozen Pipes, Icy Sidewalks, Cold Tempertures

Another day of no work. Woody is getting a little stir crazy. He's ready to get back to work. Tomorrow, Cliff & Woody are holding a preconstruction meeting. It is also the day that Burger King will close their doors so that interior construction may begin. So regardless of weather, crews will be able to go to work tomorrow. The city of Paris and surrounding areas have no free rv spaces. It's all full. Reason being that pipeline work is in progress. We were able to set up about 15 miles away at Pat Mayse Lake. The view has been beautiful. Notice though that it is much gloomier on cold, rainy days. Woody eventually got the pipes unfrozen. The walkways, however, continued to freeze over. By late afternoon, ice was all gone. Tonight is another cold night. Hopefully, the ice won't be so bad tomorrow morning.

Rain Delays Progress at Paris' Burger King

Cold, breezy, rainy! That is what today was like. Later in the evening you could here the rain had turned to falling ice. The work scheduled for today was all outside work. It had to be postponed due to it being too cold and wet.

Tomorrow will probably not be any better. The positive thing in this is that the crews are far enough ahead of schedule that a couple of down days won't delay the overall job.

Today was the GRAND OPENING for McDonald's. The children formed a line to be photographed with Ronald. Woody of course had to get in line for his photo. Please note the pic that shows the play place dining area a few days earlier and then on opening day.

McDonald's had a soft open this evening. Here are photos of the first customers inside as well as at the drive thru. The restaurant looked great and everything went off without a hitch! Grand Opening is scheduled for this coming Saturday. Expect to see Ronald McDonald.

Final Inspections at McDonald's Complete

At long last the inspections are all complete. All records are in place. Tomorrow the building inspector will come sign off on the building. This means the owners will be able to open as soon as they are ready.

A McDonald's Like NO Other

Each row shows photos of the same area as it progressed. Notice that the TVs are now in place. Lights are all burning. Painting and stone work is complete. And in a couple of days it will be filled with customers.

The electricians have been working on the energy management system. They also got the parking lights burning.

The landscapers finished their work. The glass company came out to put the glass in the restroom doors.

McDonald's Gets Final Cleaning

Decor crew will be setting tables over the weekend or Monday at the latest. This is a shot of our cleaning crew doing the final construction clean. They worked side by side with the McDonald's crew today removing all construction debris, dust, residue.

Here are some photos of the lot striping work. While we continue to schedule all final inspections, we are also breaking down our staging area. Portolets have been picked up, generator should be picked up soon, and job trailer will be picked up tomorrow.

McDonald's: TEN DAYS BEFORE OPENING DAY

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

It is that time in the schedule of the project that it becomes very important to pay attention to details. At this point Woody welcomes the opportunity to have the project manager, director, owners, managers, or area construction manager come out and look things over. He wants as many "new" eyes on the building as possible. This reduces the possibility of imperfections. Not that the building will be perfect, but we pride ourselves in getting as close to perfect as possible.

It is Saturday, but some crews came in to work on details. Also, a cleaning crew came in to begin cleaning of the interior. McDonald's sent out a sub to install office furniture and monitors throughout the kitchen.

So much work is complete as we near the finish line. Likewise there are still details and projects to be finished if the store is to open on time. Woody has great patience. His priority is fininshing all tasks that require City of Fort Worth inspections. Meanwhile, the other work comes together. Note the modification in the trellis on the back of the building. The owner came up with this design himself.

McDonald's Subs Come in to Test

Various security checks and tests took place, along with RPZ testing. Another day with a full house of subs: electricians, landscapers, mechanical technicians, plumbers, concrete crew, tile setters, and playground setting crew along with the kitchen set up crew. The CO2 was installed.

Holiday ends....work continues

As an item here and an item there gets added, it all starts to come together. From a distance some people in the community it even looks OPEN. People are coming in steadily to apply for work. It won't be long before burgers & fries will be served.
