McDonald's Kitchen, Decor continues

Today the mechanical crew came to work on setting thermostats, grills & filters. The roofers installed the coping cap on roof. The tile crew is tiling the cooler area. The storage room at trash enclosure was framed today. Woody continues to work on leveling ground before the landscaper starts. It's been a very intense day, Vaughan, one of Parkway's owners, and Ted Young, our Sr Project Manager were both onsite today. They came to meet with the electricians. Of course, they are also inspecting the site for progress. Ted provided us with an extensive evaluation. We've been working with McDonald's contractors to complete kitchen equipment & decor installation. Meanwhile, we continue to await a response from McDonald's on the installation of the play stations. The backsplash arrived for the sink areas. The painters are finishing the touchups inside before beginning the storage room & trash enclosure. The concrete crew came in to pour the first part of the drive thru concrete. In the midst of all this work, we had a visit from Julie, Vincent, Rick, and two other McDonald's Directors.

McDonald's Interior Work

Interior work is very visible. I've shown here that they've now installed the hand dryers. They are finishing the mop sink areas. The tile at front counter is about finished. And decor is getting the dining room ready for the crowd. Kitchen equipment is still being installed.

8 Days! McDonald's deadline nears...

Ice condensor units and refrigeration was set on roof with the crane pictured here. It's been a busy day. The scheduled work is extremely aggressive the rest of this week and beginning of next week. Meanwhile the masons have continued working on the trash enclosure. About mid afternoon they assured us they would finish today to avoid delay if it rains again tonight or tomorrow. So Woody has now scheduled the roof for the storage portion of the enclosure, iron gate installation, and painting that will be needed. If all goes as scheduled the trash enclosure will be completed no later than Monday. Delivery of doors & hardware allowed us to schedule final carpentry & interior finishes for our subcontrator. Landscape work will begin tomorrow or Friday depending on the weather. This morning Woody went ahead and posted the notices for deadlines and turn over reminders. Most Parkway subcontractors are working very aggressively to meet the deadlines. It's impossible to stress how important a motivated, responsible, and work oriented crew can set the pace in a fast paced build. Julie & Vincent both visited the site today. Vincent is really making himself available to help with scheduling of McDonald's contractors and other items. It's good to have them visit. Not a bad days work

McDonald's Decor Arrives

McDonald's Deadline 9 Days Away

Wallpaper hanging was completed today as was the stone work on the building. The tile crew is close to finishing. The electricians connected kitchen equipment as the installers set it up. Add to the mix the decor crew that arrived to put on all those finishing touches. The plumbers are working in the restrooms and other finishing touches. The landscapers are scheduled for Thursday and final concrete work is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Ceiling tile will be completed when kitchen installers and decor are finished in the building. EXCELLENT!

RACE DAY....Mother's Day

Sunday is here and we were able to enjoy a day off! Well, almost a day off. It's Mother's Day. The wallpaper hangers were a no show today. Can't blame them, it's hard to get crews to work a holiday. Sunday is our usual Nascar Race Day, but this week the race was held last night. When Woody returned from the job site, we went to the IMAX in Dallas to see Speed Racer! It's vibrant and colorful and the IMAX screen made it all the better. Then we raced home to catch the NASCAR race on FOX. My driver, Carl Edwards, placed 2nd. Woody's driver, Kasey Kahne, was left in the dust. Tony Stewart had some hard luck right to start with, but made an excellent come back. I'm still waiting for Juan Pablo to place first. So today is Mother's Day and we called our parents, then my son, the NC Highway Patrolman, called me! But it wasn't exactly a complete day off. We spent several hours studying for the OSHA final exam and managed to pass the chapter quizzes. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! Tomorrow it's back to McDonald's to finish the last phase before the May 27th Grand Opening. Our MOM'S:

Weekend Crews at McDonald's

The steel erectors & masons were hard at work on Saturday. I played hookey, while Woody went on in to check on the progress. The masons are making great headway. The trellis work will be complete by Monday.

Weekend starts NOW....

It's Friday and it's already after 7pm. We've had a busy day. The steel erectors are installing the trellis. They will return to finish tomorrow. The masons are packing up to leave now. They, too, will be back tomorrow. Woody is exhausted & we've had to change our evening plans. It's been a productive week. But we have at least three to four crews that need to work this weekend so that we are ready for decor and kitchen equipment Monday & Tuesday. Right now we're absolutely starved...so we're off to dinner. Tomorrow Woody will meet the crews out here and get some work done before we head out to see SPEED RACER on the IMAX screen! Yippie!!!

TROOP 713 Visits McDonald's on Belt Line, Irving

Going from job to job, we seldom have the opportunity to see young people. It was exciting and refreshing to have Cub Scout Troop 713 tour our job site. The boys are working on earning another badge. They had a floor plan of our building and we gave them an inspection card. Ted Young, our Senior Project Manager, brought hard hats for our young inspectors. Woody enjoyed the opportunity to show them around the building and give them some construction information. The funniest part of the session for me was hearing one of the boys question Woody. What was funny is that while others were curious about placement of tables, grills, and why things were being done certain ways, this particular boy asked the more important question: "HOW MUCH DO YOU GET PAID?" Very interesting that this youngster was curious to know how much the position paid. Perhaps he's already thinking ahead, no need to get to excited about a position that may not pay what he wants to earn! It was just wonderful. Ted Young questioned them about various construction terms. It was a real treat and a great way to wind down our day. THANK YOU TROOP 713!

McDonald's: Full House & It was HOT!!!

Electricians are installing switches and outlets. Verizon pulled in phone lines. Ceiling tiles are being installed. Electricians can lights are installed in dining area. Toilets were set in restrooms. The stone work is coming along. The bollards were set around the fire hydant. And the CT can has been installed. WHEW! It's Friday, and we have crews working all weekend.
